Original is the most versatile, multi-purpose drywall tape from
Strait-Flex. 90º outside corners, inside corners, and angles can be
expertly finished with Strait-Flex Original Corner Bead. Easier to
install than metal corner bead; Original resists dents and paint
chipping, cuts easily with a utility knife or scissors, is applied with
all-purpose joint compound, and will not rust. Manufactured from
Strait-Flex's patented composite material, it is extremely strong and
    will not fuzz-up when sanding.

  • Creates perfect inside and outside 90° corners, and angled corners.
  • Replaces conventional corner bead.  Uses half the compound.  Half the sanding.  Half the work.
  • Bay windows and coffered ceilings.
  • Straightens common framing irregularities.
  • Inside corners where gaps are present.
  • Slotted edges ensure superior bond.
Strait Flex Original
  • [ Installation ]

  • Run your taping knife over the surface of the drywall and remove any

  • high spots. If the knife hits a screw head, set the screw a little
  • deeper. Use a drywall rasp to clean up edges, if needed.

  • Measure wall height and subtract 1/2?. Measure and cut Original using a scissors or utility knife.

  • (A) Fold Original in half at center crease with print size facing

  • each other. For outside corners, fold more than the desired angle with
  • print side facing wall. For inside corners, fold less than desired angle
  • with print side facing out.

  • (B) Most professionals prefer to cut the ends of Original at a 45o angle.

  • Properly mix all-purpose compound per manufacturer?s directions. If

  • applying Original over painted surfaces, add Strait-Flex?s Super-Bond or
  • latex paint to enhance bondability.

  • (C) With a 4?or 5? taping knife, apply a smooth, liberal coat of compound to corner.

  • (D) Press Original into the wet compound. Adjust if necessary to create a straight line.

  • (E) Wipe down tight with taping knife using a little additional pressure on the outer edges of Original.

  • (F) Immediately apply a light skim coat of compound over surface of Original. Wipe down tight and smooth.

  • Let dry completely over several hours or overnight.

  • Use taping knife to detect and remove any high spots or dried clumps of compound.

  • (G) With a 6?or 8? taping knife, apply your final coat of compound

  • feathering the compound beyond previous coat. For inside corners, a very
  • light coat of compound is all that?s needed. Lightweight compound used
  • in this step makes sanding much easier.

  • Let dry completely over several hours or overnight.

  • (H) Sand lightly with 120 grit sandpaper. Original will not fuzz-up like paper or mesh tapes.

  • Use a stainless steel mud pan to carry and re-mix compound as you

  • work. Keeping your compound smooth and free of air pockets and dried
  • clumps of compound, will deliver a smooth finish.

  • Have a five gallon bucket of water with a durable sponge handy for cleaning tools.

  • When painting, apply a base coat of drywall primer to seal the compound and assure an even paint finish.

This is great corner tape. Gives very clean defined outside and inside corners. It is very strong will not tear when knifed or sanded.  This tape allows a beginner to get pro results. The price per foot for strait-flex is the same as buying metal corner bead so why not try it out on next project.
